Manuel & Maria Frias
Manuel and Maria Frias were married in 1972; they purchased the Spring Mountain property in 1977 while living in San Francisco. Manuel and Maria’s passion led them to plant Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. They have grown their family business over the years with the help of their five children and you can taste the fruits of their labor in each bottle of Frias wine.
Fernando was born and raised in San Francisco and has been working with his family since the planting of their first 5 acres back in 1985. Fernando graduated from San Francisco state University with a B.S. in Hospitality Management in 2001.
After completing school Fernando jumped on full time assisting his father and brother and currently is the director of sales and marketing. Fernando currently covers the entire United States, Japan and Canada. Fernando also works helping in all aspects of his family’s business from harvesting to pouring at wine dinners and various functions where the Frias wines are enjoyed. Fernando has recently made the move from San Francisco to Napa where he now lives full time.
Manny Frias jr.
Manolo “Manny” E. Frias Jr. grew up in San Francisco and spent the weekends working on the family ranch in St. Helena. In 2000, he began working full-time at the vineyard alongside his brother Fernando. Previously, Manny studied viticulture under Professor Steve Krebbs at the Napa Valley College. His passions include fishing, cooking, and drinking wine with strangers. If Manny could he would be a professional bass fisherman.
Todd gained a passion for wine while working as a journalist in Hungary and traveling through Europe. Instead of buying a small vineyard as a hobby, he returned to his native California to pursue a degree in viticulture and enology at Fresno State University and then settled in Napa Valley. He began in the cellar and lab as an intern at Cuvaison Estate Wines, eventually assuming the role of associate winemaker and working with a number of smaller producers in custom production and consulting, from the vineyard through to sales. Todd enjoys the seasons and cycles of winemaking, from bud break to harvest in the vineyard and crush to bottling in the winery.
